Plans to release the new MacBook Pro with an M5 chip are delayed, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

Typically, Apple has announced its new lineup of MacBook Pros with updated chips in October or November. That's been the case the past few years with the M4 MacBook Pro last year and the M3 MacBook Pro the year before. While it may have been the original plan to release the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros in the fall of 2025, "Apple is considering pushing them back to 2026," Gurman reports.

It's unclear why MacBook Pro product cycle is expected to be longer than usual, Gurman reported. He also revealed that the M5 MacBook Pro will be "the last with the current design."

If we don't see an M5 MacBook Pro this fall, it's possible we might see another M5-powered device: the iPad Pro. Looking at last year's release schedule, Apple announced a version of the iPad Pro with an M4 chip in May 2024 – months before it launched Macs with the same M4 chip.

The M5 iPad Pro would join the release of the iPhone 17 lineup, new Apple Watches, and updates to the Vision Pro headset this fall, according to Gurman. So maybe Apple fans will have to wait a little longer for the new MacBook Pro, but there are lots of hardware updates to capture their attention before then.
